Catholic Tuition Support Organization
What is CTSO? If you reside and work in the state of Arizona, you have the unique opportunity of directing your state tax liability to the educational entity of your choice! This is the ONLY opportunity, Arizona tax-payers have to tell the state where we want to use our tax dollars. Doesn’t it make sense to use these dollars in our own community, where we educate our future citizens?
How does it work? The best part of this program is that every dollar you direct, you get back! It costs you nothing to direct your state tax liability to St. Augustine Catholic High School! Download the attached form and complete the information. You can pay your tax liability in one full sum at the end of the year prior to or on December 31. Or budget by paying a designated amount throughout the calendar year, monthly, quarterly or bi-annually.
How much money will this cost me? The state allows for a married couple to designate up to $1000.00 if filing jointly. A single tax payer may designate up to $500.00. This amount applies only to Catholic schools. The limit is lower when directing to public schools, but one may designate to both Catholic and public schools. CTSO also allows for you to split your tax credits among several Catholic schools, if you choose to do so.
What does St. Augustine Catholic High School do with this money? Tax liability money is used to for tuition assistance. Over 50% of the students at St. Augustine Catholic High School require tuition help. To qualify for tuition assistance, anyone interested completes an application that is evaluated by a third party company. Tuition money is distributed as determined by need. This money also helps in time of a crisis, such as a death or serious illness in the family that would affect finances.
