Upcoming Events:

August 2, 2010: School begins

St. Augustine Catholic High School strives to provide the necessary student support to ensure each student achieves his or her maximum potential.  As such, the SACHS Guidance Department works with students in the following areas throughout their high school careers:

    • Academic Planning – the guidance counselor will meet with the students each year to help them make the best possible course selections at SACHS that will meet their specific college or university entrance requirements.

    • Standardized Test Preparation – the guidance counselor is responsible for assisting teachers and students in preparation for the PSAT, SAT, and ACT exams – important factors for college admissions and scholarships. (AP Exam preparation occurs in each specific class.)

    • College Admission Process – the guidance counselor facilitates on-campus visits from colleges and universities, supervises the application process from SACHS students and works with students to produce the best possible applications

    • Scholarship Assistance – the guidance counselor works to produce a comprehensive list of scholarships available to SACHS students and the deadlines for application.

    • Personal Counseling – the guidance counselor is available to students who need someone to talk to about school or personal issues.  The counselor provides support to students and is a member of the student support team with the administration, nurse, and chaplain.  The counselor also maintains a list of professional counselors and makes referrals when the scope of a student situation is beyond his/her training.
