The boys' basketball team looks forward to the 2009-2010 season and welcomes new Head Coach Ed Lopez to SACHS!  

Coach Biographies

Head Coach: Ed Lopez

Ed Lopez - has coached Y.M.C.A. ball for over 10 years.  He has coached all ages in recreational, skill-building, and club team ball along with summer camps.  He coached 3 years as the Desert Christian Middle School coach and as an assistant with the Desert Christian High School Varsity Eagles.  He believes in strong fundamentals, teamwork, and character on and off the court.  More than half of his past players have gone on to play successful high school ball.  His greatest joy and challenge is to build basketball players and successful young men!
Ed has been married to his wife Jacque for 22 years and has 5 children.  He is a Captain with the Tucson Fire Department.

Assistant Coach: Steve Lopez

Steven Lopez - has played basketball since he was 5 years old. He has played Y.M.C.A., Club team, middle school and high school basketball.  His high school team, the Desert Christian Eagles went to the 2A State Championship in 2007.  He has coached Y.M.C.A. and middle school ball for the last 4 years.  He has been mentored by some of Tucson’s finest coaches and has a keen understanding and vision of the game.  Many games have been won because of his ability to call the winning last minute play.  He is excited to help build a successful basketball program at St. Augustine High School.
